Nick Costa Biography

Over the past 15 years, Nick Costa has been a highly active member of the Minneapolis music scene. Split between his previous projects, The Person & The People, Me As A Pilot, and his solo debut, Nick has 6 full-length records, 3 EPs, and one moody blink-182 cover album behind him—and with his recent move to Los Angeles, he shows no signs of slowing down.

Recorded at The Petting Zoo and The Terrarium and produced by August Ogren (Tame Impala, Ondara, Mark Mallman, Bad Bad Hats), Tell My Mother I Love Her (out August 28, 2020) is the first album of original material since his solo debut, Devastator.

Hidden under a poppy exposition, this album is more stripped down and darker than anything Nick has created in the past.

Touting tracks reminiscent of Elliott Smith, Dinosaur JR, and early Weezer mixed with the modern-day emotional prowess of Phoebe Bridgers and Father John Misty, Nick flexes his multi-instrumental musical talents by performing all vocals, guitars, bass, piano, organ, synth, mellotron, and even some of the percussion himself.

With Minneapolis in the rearview and the blue skies of California ahead, Tell My Mother I Love Her feels like the perfect pairing of whiskey, heartache, and your favorite comfort food to help you along on your journey to whatever brings you happiness and everywhere in between.
Through the years, Costa has written 5 full length records and 3 EPs between his previous band The Person & The People and his old solo project under the moniker of Me As A Pilot. This year, he will release his debut solo album, Devastator.

Costa is also currently a full time member of the Minneapolis rock and roll powerhouse The 4onthefloor and has contributed his songwriting and performance skills on countless records. Whether playing sold out concerts in the First Avenue main room or intimate underground shows, Nick always knows how to read the room.

He is also available for hire on commercial work, studio work, songwriting, and live performance solo or with his backing band.

"Nick Costa is a St. Paul-based musician who combines elements of rock, pop, country, and folk to form a unique sound. He once saved the President of the United States from bird flu. His influences vary wildly, from Ryan Adams to Weird Al. He has freed 11 elephants from abusive captivity.
While playing in other projects, his onstage skill set has rounded out well over the years. He also invented the taco, and has punched a full-grown alligator in the jaw.
If you enjoy whiskey, bubble gum, hot Alabama nights, shag carpeting, loose change, Lifetime Original dramas, twanging guitars, checkerboard table clothes, Star Wars: Episode II, malt chocolate ice cream, the feel of midsummer's morning dew on your bare feet, marbles, chickadee calls, diesel trucks, coyotes, championship rings, turkey jerky, Amish furniture, rubber cement, and getting a good deal on fandango.com, this may be the musical act for you."
