Fritz Schindler Band Biography
Fritz Schindler Band brings their signature, energetic, shape-shifting "Contagious Folk 'n' Roll" sound to events across their Virginia homeland and surrounding states. With Schindler at the helm on vocals while playing a myriad of instruments--hammered dulcimer, electric guitar, mandolin, banjo, acoustic guitar and piano—Willis Greenstreet on sax and flute, Paul Campbell on violin, Ben Slaughter manning the keys and melodica, Wally Scott and Nick Tolar laying down a tight, funky groove on bass and drums, each “next song” heads in a different direction from the one before as they take listeners on a musical journey through old favorites, re-imagined renditions and original songs.
What is “Contagious Folk ’n’ Roll,” you ask? Most easily summed up in three traditional genre buckets as: Rock, Jazz and Celtic, but you'll definitely hear other styles in the mix like Bluegrass, Klezmer, Appalachian Folk, Black Gospel and Americana. Essentially, every song Fritz Schindler Band plays has been “Fritzified:” That intangible, musically-inventive pixie dust that Schindler leaves as a fingerprint on every tune he touches.
You really will love these guys and their crowd-pleasing, inventive music. The fun they have together on stage is contagious and at some point you’ll probably be dancing or singing along!
