About this concert
River Arts will be hosting Magical Strings in April! Don’t miss this opportunity to hear this dynamic Celtic duo in Concert, described by the Washington Post as “sonically gorgeous.” Philip and Pam Boulding will carry you to sublime realms with ancient airs and their own unique compositions. They will have you “dancing” to lively jigs and reels and will share stories and selections from their newest CDs Fairy Wind and Lullaby for a Soul’s Journey.
Since 1978, Philip and Pam Boulding have drawn a loyal following worldwide, captivated by their energetic arrangements of Celtic music and their own engaging compositions that intertwine Celtic roots with classical and world music influences. They have toured worldwide for over 40 years and recorded 22 albums. At River Arts they will perform on their own hand-crafted Celtic harps and hammered dulcimers along with whistles, button accordion, concertina and more.
Performance will be on April 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Admission is $15 at the door.

Magical Strings Biography
Philip and Pam Boulding founded Magical Strings in 1978 and in that same year began the tradition of their family’s Celtic Yuletide Concerts. They have performed throughout the United States, Canada, Ireland and Japan, toured and recorded with Dan Fogelberg, appeared on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” recorded 18 celebrated albums on four labels and have had their music described as “warm, graceful and sonically gorgeous” by the Washington Post.
The Bouldings’ love of music is embraced by all five of their grown children, who each year return home to join the band for the final weekend of Celtic Yuletide Concerts. Philip and Pam also design and build Celtic harps and hammered dulcimers for an international clientele, and run their School of Magical Strings, Magic Hill Summer Harp Camp and Summer Fairy School on their beautiful five-acre home overlooking the Puget Sound. They also teach lyre in local Waldorf Schools and give school programs throughout the country.
