Wes and The Railroaders Biography

Meet Wes And The Railroaders! Charlotte, North Carolina’s, newest country-rock quartet, led by Wes Hamilton of the defunct alt-country band Pullman Strike. After a 2017 summer tour playing pedal steel with Peewee Moore, Wes returned home inspired to start work on a new project. He then picked up an acoustic guitar dedicated his time to writing songs. Drawing inspiration from 70’s honky tonk and rock acts such as Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, Johnny Paycheck, Bobby Bare and Doug Sahm, he created the songs that would later become the backbone of The Railroaders.

The Railroaders were formed by a couple of online posts where Steve Longo (lead guitar) and Pat Bowden (drums) replied with a shared interest in musical tastes. Steve had just moved from Long Island and was well versed in the catalogs of Gram Parsons and Commander Cody, so naturally it was an easy fit. Pat had Mike and The Moonpies play at his wedding and decided he wanted to explore his love of authentic country music after years of playing rock-n-roll in Denver, Colorado. Wes met Ethan Ricks (bass) through his wife while he was playing with local psychedelic band Shadowgraphs. Shortly after Ethan stepped away from the band and Wes acted quickly to convince him to be a part of the new group. With The Railroaders lineup complete, they have been hard at work writing and rehearsing since the fall of 2017.

Wes and The Railroaders are eager to introduce their brand of laid back vintage country sounds to you and will make their debut on Saturday June 2nd at the Tipsy Burro Saloon in Charlotte.
