About this concert

He performed professionally in his family’s country-rock band as a child, toured with classic pop-rock bands after high school, and studied with the best jazz educators while in college. Since, Joseph has taught a variety of music and recording classes at the college level, has composed original music for multiple albums and films, and has performed hundreds of concerts from the smallest venue to the amazing Grand Ole Opry. As an award-winning billboard-charting recording artist, today he promotes his seven self-released albums of instrumental music, which can be found at www.josephakins.com.Rachel LaFond is a composer who tells epic tales about life’s mysteries and its most powerful moments through music. Her fine-tuned technique, natural instinct for songwriting, and deep belief in the piano as an ideal tool for authentic expression shine through during her compelling performances. Originally from Seattle, Rachel has traveled the world and now lives in New Zealand. She draws inspiration from her travels, the natural world, and the vibrant stories of others. Rachel will be performing music from her second album, Encounters of the Beautiful Kind (releasing June 1st), as well as music from her debut album, Wandering Soul. Rachel’s music can be found at www.rachellafond.com.Notes:There will be two halves with an intermission. For everyone's enjoyment, please plan to silence cell phones, remain seated, and pause conversation during the performance. Concerts can be delightful events for the whole family, and we are pleased to offer a discounted price for children. However, given the intimacy of the event, we do ask parents to consider whether their kids will be able to sit quietly during the performance to determine if this event is right for them. There will be a chance to say hello to Joseph and Rachel during intermission and after the show. CDs and sheet music will also be available for sale.Light refreshments will be provided.
