JD Wright

JD Wright, at face value, lives the life of your typical American man—a librarian who resides just outside of Detroit, Michigan with his wife and dog. However, his music breeds as much experience and storytelling elements as the books he spends his time tending. Wright experienced his upbringing in Northern Michigan, often cold, isolated, and with little cultural advancement, but through the years shifted the dynamic entirely to playing in Detroit rock bands for the better part of the last decade. In his time off, JD Wright revisited his hometown in the more desolate part of the state and spawned the idea of his latest solo project, which tackles the harsh, ugly, and unforgiving realities of the opioid epidemic in a place that is so beautiful on the surface. ‘Lake Effect,’ Wright’s debut as a solo artist backed by musicians from local rock and punk outfits, is a cohesive collection of 8 songs that form a compelling and enticing narrative. Recorded in Winter 2017 in Ferndale, Michigan, ‘Lake Effect’ is due to be released in Spring 2018 through Save Your Generation Records.
