Jay Stone Biography

Jay Stone is a 25-year-old lyricist coming out of the Bay Area of California. He was cultivated in the confines of Richmond and Oakland. His natural love for music and expression through art and writing is what drove Jay Stone to start making his own music. His most prominent musical influences are Nas, Ghostface Killah, and Mos Def. His love and appreciation of ‘60's and ‘70's Funk, Soul, and R&B music is a corner stone in his beat selection. He grew up listening to Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, and Marvin Gaye. Sampled live instrumentation and eclectic rhythmic patterns are often the foundation in the production of his music. Jay Stone's career in music stems from a natural gift in painting mental pictures with his words. His uncanny ability to give multiple perspectives in a story is one of his strongest points. His early work was a culmination of thoughts and emotion that was raw and unrefined. He recorded his earliest songs in 2007 on a small digital recorder in his younger sister's walk-in closet. He soon after started recording at a small local studio to get better sound quality and accumulate knowledge of the recording process. Though, it wasn't until his move to Los Angeles in late 2009 that he decided to record and release a project. He met an engineer and multiple producers while living in LA and started working on new material. After recording new works and fine-tuning his craft, Jay decided to finally release some music. After his return to the Bay Area his debut EP, Melodious Miscreant, was released in the fall of 2012. It was received well by local audiences, and was instrumental in his growth as an artist. Since its release, Jay Stone has been performing live throughout the Bay Area, collaborating with new artists and producers, and working on a soon to be released sophmore EP entitled, 16th & Adeline. The first single, WildSide, was released in early 2013. He recently released the second single "Tendencies", and visuals for that we're released October 19th. "16th & Adeline'" was recently released on November 19th. JAY STONE FOREIGN PEDESTRIANS 16TH & ADELINE MELODIOUS MISCREANT LYRICIST/MUSICIAN ENOTSYAJ IS ALIVE! OAKLAND/RICHMOND/LOS ANGELES/BROOKLYN
