Lay ears on Dave Lange and you'll find yourself immediately drawn in by his unique sound. Yes, he plays the blues but not in a way you would expect, conjuring up a country style of blues unique to a region lying just outside of the Mississippi Delta in what is known as the North Mississippi Hill Country. Lange’s music is defined by a strong emphasis on the “groove” with driving rhythms and percussion, steady guitar riffs, few chord changes, and unconventional song structures. A three-string cigar box guitar, howling steel resonator, and finger-picked slide guitar give the music it’s edge while primal drum beats are pounded out by foot producing a trance-like boogie. Combined with a smooth and smokey vocal, Lange delivers American roots music in a fresh yet familiar way.
