2. There is also an American rock band The Cops from Seattle, Washington. They are currently signed with Mt. Fuji Records. Their influences include The Kinks, The Clash and Buzzcocks. They also incorporate elements of dub and reggae.

In early 2004, John Randolph and Michael Jaworski joined to form their pop band, Hello From Waveland. They had lost their drummer to a snow boarding accident and had no permanent bass player. Randolph then recruited his college pal David Weeks, who had been drumming in a handful of projects since leaving Kinski in 2002. Soon after, they changed their name to The Cops, and recorded 10 songs in 3 days in Randolph's basement.

In Spring 2005, the band released a debut EP entitled Why Kids Go Wrong on Mt. Fuji Records and began receiving regular rotation on both KEXP and mainstream alternative station The End.

Their first show as The Cops, they shared a sold-out bill with The Walkmen. They continued to play shows with Sebadoh, The Kills and The Hold Steady, who eventually took them along for a West coast tour in Summer 2005.

A year later, the band added Drew Church on bass guitar. After 2 years and 110 live shows, Church was enlisted as a permanent member.
