About this concert
NY's favorite 1940s Swing Band celebrates their new (not-so-surprising) infatuation: Broadway Showtunes! From the opening curtain to the "eleven o'clock" number, Music of the Night overflows with hits by the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hart, Kander & Ebb and more. Leading lady, Miss Kim, evokes the swing sensibility of Ella Fitzgerald with the charming warmth of Fanny Brice, while her band provides a glimpse into the Golden Age of jazz. This authentic territory band is "awesome in every way" (Talkin' Broadway) with their trademark "lively twists on old sounds" (Sarasota Herald-Tribune). Be entertained as The Swingaroos lend a spirited voice to the most-cherished American songs & personalities of the past.

The Swingaroos Biography

* NYC'S SWING-ERA TERRITORY BAND *

The Swingaroos are NYC's Midwestern-Born, New Orleans-bound, Hollywood-exploited Territory Band. Fronted by award-winning vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/lyricist, Kimberly Hawkey, and pianist/arranger, Assaf Gleizner, the 'roos continue the tradition of the swing-era small groups with their original music and popular numbers from the trad, swing and Hollywood songbooks. Inspired by the sounds and imagery of vintage Soundies and Golden-Age films, the six-piece group blends New Orleans hot jazz with comedic storytelling and down-home influences.

The Swingaroos' debut album, "All Aboard!" is now available for digital download at www.theswingaroos.bandcamp.com .
