Over The Moon-Acoustic Roots Duo

When Craig Bignell was hired to play percussion and banjo on the new Traveling Mabels project he had no way of knowing what events this simple act would set in place. First he found himself strangely drawn to Suzanne Levesque, the group's bass player and one of it's three singers. I mean, who wouldn't be, but there was just something more there than the obvious with her.

Anyway, after helping them with their live CD release party many of the bands friends got together for food and some music at a home just outside of Calgary. Everyone was taking turns playing and singing tunes when someone suggested (shy to a fault) Craig sing one. Now let me say here (yeah it's me) that I make my living drumming and singing behind many great artists but it's a very big BEHIND the great artists! To sit there in a room full of musicians..sing and play guitar absolutely terrified me!

Feeling the pressure I bravely set out singing a John Prine tune and all eyes were on me. I was dying a slow death and from out of nowhere Suzanne (feeling my pain) came to my rescue by playing along with me and adding her sweet voice to my trembling one. I can't explain to you the feeling I had at that moment. Aside from the fact that our voices blended so amazingly well, just some wonderful feeling came over me like I've never felt before playing all those years before...

Needless to say, we feel in love and are now engaged but more importantly to you people is that we've decided to continue with our duo and play whenever we can in between our other shows with all those great artists:)

If you get a chance to come out to see us or pick up our upcoming CD, I believe the energy and magic that happened for that first night is always there... It's truly why we're Over The Moon!!!
