Dark Roast

The up and coming Norwegian soul band Dark Roast was formed by Johan Helland and Audun Haave Reknes in 2016. With a great love for 70s soul music, catchy horn arrangements and energetic vocals they are an enjoyable live-band worth experiencing. The band released their first two singles 'Break' and 'Take the Son of a Bitch Down' during the summer of 2017 and released their third single ‘Seasons In Oslo’ this year, closely followed by their debut album called ‘First Brew', that came in May this year.

The band was formed because Helland and Reknes wanted to write and preform music inspired by great, traditional soul artists like Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and James Brown, and combine it with a modern sound. They gathered a band, which included saxophone and trumpet as well as drums, bass, vocals, guitar and of course a bunch of vintage keys. Dark Roast is currently av 6-piece band with Adrian Barstad Andresen (trumpet), Daniel Deltchev (saxophone, guitar), Markus Hafsund Gundersen (bass), Bård Jønland Berg (drums), Audun Haave Reknes (keys) and Johan Helland (vocal), But they have also had some other musicians with them like Torjus Nevland (drums) and John William Bøe Haugland (guitar).

This year they are going on their first tour and they will travel to all the big cities in Norway.
