Sven Stucke Biography

Praised by the New York Concert Review for his “effortless precision in his intonation and intense expressiveness”, acclaimed German violinist Sven Stucke has appeared with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout Europe, the United States and Asia. Winner of the Louise-Henriette International Violin Competition and the Queen Sophie Charlotte International Violin Competition, Mr. Stucke has made a number of CD and radio recordings for RBB, WDR, MDR and SWR.

Throughtout season 2018-2019, Mr. Stucke travels extensively in the United States, Germany and China for solo and chamber music concerts. Highlights of the season include his return appearance at the Carneige Hall in New York and on tour with the Karwendel Artists; as the artist-in-residence of the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Stucke appears as soloist and concertmaster with MSO in 12 concerts and recitals.

Mr. Stucke has frequently appeared as soloist in such worldwide prestigious concert halls as the Carnegie Hall, Chamber Music Society of the Lincoln Center, Konzerthaus Berlin, Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow, Herkulessaal in Munich, Laiszhalle in Hamburg, Liederhalle Stuttgart, NDR Broadcasting Hall in Hannover and the KBS Hall in Seoul, Korea. A scholarship recipient of the Maggini Foundation in Switzerland, International Association of Wagner Societies (Richard Wagner Association Magdeburg), Associazione Intonarumori and Doms Stiftung, he has collaborated in concerts with worldwide renowned artists including Pinchas Zukerman, Vadim Gluzman, Rainer Honeck and Augustin Dumay. A passionate chamber musician, he is the founding member of the Karwendel String Quartet. Highlights of his recent seasons include the performance at the 10th Golden Bell Award For Music in China, his solo recital at the European Parliament, and a tour with the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn, performing Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5 throughout Germany. He is the Co-founder and Music Director of the Karwendel Music Festival since 2015.

Among his teachers are Pinchas Zukerman, Victor Tretjakov, Pavel Vernikov and Jost Witter. Mr. Stucke plays on a 1765 T. Balestrieri violin from a private collection and a bow made by Lee Guthrie.
