The band, which is releasing — get this — a 45 (called Goin’ All the Way), makes nostalgic music, which great country should be. Instead of Auto-Tune and comically bad rapping about pickup trucks over Ableton-manufactured beats, High Plains Honky belts out old-timey country songs with bare-bones chord progressions, Casey James Prestwood’s whining steel guitar and Brian Buck singing about getting rich and getting drunk. The band will drop its new record at the hi-dive and will be joined by Casey James Prestwood & the Burning Angels as well as Danny Dodge & the Dodge Gang from Los Angeles, all dishing up a night of country that won’t make you gag.
