Virginia alt-country and Americana at The Vanguard featuring Michael Paul Lawson.

About Michael Paul Lawson:
“Lawson’s work as a songwriter and performer is brimming with honesty, technical ability, and a genuine voice.” - JAKE HULL | PRODUCER/COMPOSER (The Last Bison, Jake Clemons Band)

Michael Paul Lawson didn’t begin writing songs until moving to Norfolk, Virginia in 2013. A career in music was an afterthought for Lawson when he came south burnt out from years of staying afloat in and around New York City. “The first few songs were accidents” says Lawson, who has since gone on to collaborate with notable artists including Jake Hull (The Last Bison, Jake Clemons Band), Mutt Musty (Grace Potter, Rayland Baxter), and Nashville’s Bri Murphy. Lawson’s brand of alt-country Americana has been described as “balladesque and hard to forget” (Whurk Magazine). He has teamed up with producer Daniel Mendez (Noah Gundersen, The Native Sibling, Alexi Murdoch) for an upcoming 2019 release.

For fans of Jason Isbell, Drive-By Truckers, Ray LaMontagne, Michigan Rattlers, Gregory Alan Isakov.
