About this concert
Lauren Canyon Music are proud to present a very special and exclusive double header of the exciting new duo Elizabeth & Jameson and the multi-award winning folk trio Said The Maiden.\nHosted in the intimate basement venue of the Green Note. This is a gig not to be missed.\nElizabeth and Jameson are the exciting new duo of Hannah Elizabeth of Said The Maiden and Griff Jameson of Fred's House. This gig marks their first official London date.\nA stunning collaboration between two rising stars of the UK folk/pop/rock scene, Elizabeth & Jameson comprises Hannah Elizabeth of Said The Maiden and Griff Jameson from Fred's House. Playing all over the UK with the trio Said The Maiden, Hannah Elizabeth's influences are very much planted within traditional folk roots. This is in stark contrast to Griff Jameson's recent musical history, having penned a string of quirky rock/pop anthems for Fred's House. \nTogether, Elizabeth & Jameson arguably offers the best of both backgrounds; this is simplistic, classic song writing at its best: a stripped back, harmony-driven sound with guitar, violin\n and exquisite vocals.\nHaving already opened up for the likes of Scott Matthews, Bob Fox, Greg Russell, Jack Rutter and Richard Digance, the duo are also receiving critical acclaim for their debut EP 'Supermoon', along with an NMG Award nomination for Best Folk,Roots, Country & Acoustic Act and an ever-growing fan base!\nSaid The Maiden are Jess Distill, Hannah Elizabeth and Kathy Pilkinton, three friends who discovered a mutual love of folk music when they reunited several years after spending their school years together in Hertfordshire. After tentatively performing a few songs at their local Redbourn Folk Club, the group soon gained a great deal of interest on the local and national folk circuit, securing major support and headline slots at folk clubs and festivals around the country.\nThe trio has also opened for many great artists including The Full English, The Fisherman's Friends, Jim Moray, Megson, Martin Carthy, Clannad, Cara Dillon, False Lights and Fairport Convention. They were also honoured to join legendary fiddler the late Dave Swarbrick on a successful UK solo tour in the spring of 2014, and released their debut album 'A Curious Tale' in June of the same year. The group went on to release their EP, 'Of Maids And Mariners' in 2016 which was met with critical acclaim across the folk community.\nSaid The Maiden was awarded Bristol Folk Festival's prestigious Isambard Folk Award in 2015 and were also voted 'Best Act' by the public at the 2015 Great British Folk Festival's Introducing Stage, consequently returning in 2016 for an appearance on the festival's main stage. \nFurther recognition in 2017 for Said The Maiden included winning the Folking Awards 'Rising Star' prize, and an NMG Award nomination for best Acoustic, Country & Folk act. The trio also made their first international appearances, at the 60th Jazz & Joy Festival in Worms, Germany and at Costa del Folk in Portugal.\nAutumn 2017 saw the release of Said The Maiden's eagerly anticipated second studio album, Here's A Health, coinciding with a national headline tour. The new album has been met with great critical acclaim across the folk, roots and acoustic music community, receiving fantastic reviews and national BBC radio airplay. Said The Maiden are now looking forward to another busy year of live appearances ahead as they continue to tour their latest album across the length and breadth of the country.\nThe are also part of the recent award winning Company of Players folk supergroup which was founded and organised by Jess.\nhttp://www.saidthemaiden.co.uk/
