About this concert
For over 1000 Thursdays, Uncle John's Band has presided over the weekly congregation that is Skipper's Smokehouse Grateful Dead Night. Over the past two decades UJB has shared this stage with notable guests including Grateful Dead alums & related artists John Kadlecik, Tom Constanten, Vince Welnick, Merle Sanders, Melvin Seals, David Gans, and New Riders of the Purple Sage. Other noted guest sit-ins include Jeff Mosier and Jake Shimabukuro. Countless other touring bands have made a Thursday night detour to play a “sandwich set” with UJB. Skippers Smokehouse is considered by many to be the center of the Tampa Bay music scene, and Thursday nights with Uncle John's Band its “church.”

Uncle Johns Band Biography

Uncle John's Band was formed in 1989 in Clearwater Florida by a group of talented musicians who love to play the music of the Grateful Dead.

UJB has played thousands of hours of Grateful Dead music from Chicago to Key West, but mostly centered around their home base of Tampa Bay Florida. Their weekly shows at Tampa's legendary Skippers Smokehouse have been a Thursday night "church" for the deadicated since 1995.

Over the years, UJB has enjoyed regular appearances on the Florida music festival circuit (Magnolia Fest, Magnolia Ball, Orange Blossom Jamboree, Home Team Rally to name a few) but thrives on stretching out on 2 or 3 extended sets during a typical evening show.

To quote a song: "Anyone who sweats like that must be alright." We hope to see you at a show soon.
