About this concert
JAZZ MAUI CAMP is a unique camp that is associated with the Hawaiian Tourism Authority so half of the day is dedicated to jazz studies and the other half of the day is comprised of scheduled activities like snorkeling, sailing, luau etc. It is truly a non competitive, no pressure camp and it's a mix of jazz camp and outdoor Maui activities perfect for any level of student (12+) who is interested in Jazz. Plus the whole camp is all inclusive: music classes, activities, meals and housing. There is a discount if students sign up by March 1 and family room rates are available!

Overview:
This exciting new camp is designed for aspiring young musicians (12+) of all skill levels looking to unleash their creativity and explore the beauty of Hawaii. Instruction includes ensembles, master classes, electives and concerts from our award winning faculty. Daily music curriculum will be enhanced with Hawaiian immersion activities including Luau, Snorkeling, Beach time, History Tours and more. Katie Thiroux Biography
A triple threat talent from Los Angeles, Katie Thiroux has garnered considerable attention for her bravura bass playing, assured singing and compelling compositions. Her debut album, Introducing Katie Thiroux (2015), received international critical acclaim including "Debut Record of the Year" from the Huffington Post, All About Jazz, Jazz Journalists Association and "Top 5 Debut Records of the Year" from NPR Jazz Critics Poll. Lending contemporary flair to mainstream stylings, Thiroux carries on the hard swinging tradition of such bass masters as Ray Brown and John Clayton, while channeling the buoyant vocal finesse of iconic singers including Anita O’Day, Chet Baker and Ella Fitzgerald. Thiroux offers in-the-moment jazz that draws upon the rich history of the music, from swing to bebop and beyond.
Thiroux’s sophmore release, Off Beat, features Ken Peplowski and Justin Kauflin and will be released on Capri Records in the Summer of 2017 with touring starting in early 2017. Her debut album "Introducing Katie Thiroux" is available now.
