John Kay Biography
Detroit-based musician John Kay writes, produces, and performs original, inspiring, genre-defying pop music, with a focus on positively impacting others by delivering undeniable sensory experiences with his band, John Kay & Who's To Say.
Kay began playing drums just before the age of 2, and is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and record producer with a degree from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences.
Drawing on various influences from many of the most iconic artists and producers in pop songwriting history—including Prince, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Queen, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Billie Joe Armstrong, Tom Petty, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, and even Vivaldi, Mozart and Beethoven—John uses his talent to craft progressive pop songs that are fun to sing out loud, easy to remember, and to which anyone can relate, regardless of age or background.
Kay's live performances come in three varieties, depending on the number of "Bullfighters"—official John Kay & Who's To Say fan club members—in a particular area: intimate solo house shows, small club shows with his 6-8 piece band, or large venues with his 17-piece progressive pop orchestra. With nationwide tours being planned for 2018, Detroit's best kept secret won't be unknown for much longer.
