Jakob Singer and The Outsiders Biography

Jakob started performing at the age of 3 on respectable stages like the dinning room table after Christmas Dinner. Though he reached this lofty peak early in his career he has been chasing that taste of fame ever since. Jakob studied guitar with Wyoming legends Jeff Troxel and Ed Cook from age 10-18 but perhaps the greatest impression was left by his Uncle Steve Singer, leader of West The Band and owner of Cassie's Supper Club. Jakob spent much of his childhood underfoot at this country dance hall, listening to the band and eventually being called away from washing dishes to perform a tune.

Jakob started his first band Gone South with his cousin Ronnie Singer at age 14, playing high school dances and parties. The band moved to Laramie, Wyoming and played weekend gigs is small towns across the state to help pay for living expenses while attending the University of Wyoming. Jakob studied Classical Guitar under Kevin Hart at UW and received a Bachelor Degree in Guitar Performance.

Jakob then moved to Orlando, Florida to attend Full Sail Real World Education, where he received an Associate in Recording Arts and learned the ropes of the Recording Studio. After graduation, Jakob toured across Europe for 8 months promoting his first solo album “No Future”. This experience inspired the composition of a collections of tunes that later became his second solo album “Down on Rose Street”.

In hopes of introducing his music to a larger audience, Jakob moved to Seattle in January of 2010; where he joined up with Jacob Yackshaw and Peter Reni and formed the Relentless Rhythm Machine. After playing to empty bars across Seattle for a year, the band joined forces with the very talented Tanner and Amy McInerney, and The Weatherside Whiskey Band was born. WWB's boot stomping rhythms, catchy melodies, and strong group of friends and family soon had them packing Seattle's most famous venues. Weatherside has put out two albums of original tunes and a series of music videos in the short time they have been together, with no plan of slowing till they reach the top.

Jakob has been recording bands in makeshift bedroom studios for as long as he has been playing music. A little elbow grease and an unfinished basement in his West Seattle home provided the perfect opportunity to move the gear into a real studio. After a year of construction Ship Wreckords opened its doors in early 2014.
