Betsey Long Biography
With a Grandfather, who played bass guitar for the likes of Dolly Parton (Jolene), Jerry Lee Lewis, and Waylon Jennings, a Mother who belts on the soul classics, and a Father who played guitar for Aretha Franklin, it’s inevitable that Betsey Long, a Nashville, TN native, would become a relevant singer-songwriter.
For several years Betsey worked as a session vocalist, notably with Miranda Lambert, on the 2012 single “Fastest Girl In Town” off of Lambert’s Grammy nominated album ‘Four The Record.’
During Betsey’s 2013 escape to Los Angeles, she focused on writing music for film and television, as well as writing music for other recording artists.
Betsey has played many live shows, gracing the stages of venues nationwide including the South By Southwest 2012 stages.
Most recently, Betsey co-wrote and recorded a duet with Country Music Hall of Fame Member, Charlie McCoy, on his latest studio album, ‘Celtic Dreams.’ Soon after, Charlie and Betsey co-wrote and recorded a soulful, rock and roll original song entitled, “Rattin You Out.” You can hear “Rattin You Out” on Betsey’s latest album,‘Gorham Woods.’
Betsey is an an official Epiphone endorsee and the proud owner of the Epiphone PRO-1 ULTRA Acoustic-Electric Guitar. “The retro look, “Pro” build, and effortless playing abilities make the PRO-1 ULTRA a sure fit for my particular musical stylings.” - Betsey Long
After three years of highs and lows, hardship, soul searching, and songwriting, Betsey has created an album of raw and brutal honesty entitled ‘Gorham Woods.’ The album is available on CD and Vinyl in record shops across the country as well as iTunes.
Having experienced the depths of depravity in the entertainment industry, Betsey has shifted her focus to one of inspiration and empowerment. She donates a portion of the proceeds from every album sale to help fight against Human Trafficking. Her music past and current are not for personal glory, but for the restoration of the hurting. Betsey is currently playing local shows in support of this belief as she tucks away in Goshen, IN to write her third album.
