We enjoy experimenting with simple song structures and sounds and aesthetically tend to go for understatement. We play disheveled pop. Schooner began as a 4-track project by Reid Johnson & features Joshua Carpenter (Floating Action), Nick Jaeger (Wild Fur), Patrick O'Neil (Some Army, Wyrms, Lacy Jags), Maria Albani (Organos, See Gulls), and a rotating cast of characters. Stevie North Carolina trio Stevie plays garage pop seized by heartbreak, and other delights. They bring a floral edge to their retro-tinged, lofi bops. The band (Lindsey Sprague, Amethyst White, and Chesley Kalnen) released their first single “None of my Business” in September 2018, and will record their first full-length album in Spring 2019. Their live performances explode with Chris Lowe's and Eleot Reich's Motorcity energy, Nashvegas pageantry, and their Hall-of-Fame musical influences -- From the Carter Family to Little Richard to Buck Owens to ACDC. VOLK is loud suits and loud amps, shiny dresses and shiny drumsets; it’s growling tones and thunderous beats; VOLK is RocknRoll, Country-Fried. Since settling for greener pastures in Nashville in 2017, VOLK has opened for such acts as Diarrhea Planet (TN), Royal Thunder (GA), Lincoln Durham (TX), Left Lane Cruiser (IN), Mayeux and Broussard (TX), The Ghost Wolves (TX), and Brother O Brother (IN). Chris and Eleot are rabid road warriors, playing almost 200 shows in 2018 through 17 states across the Southeast, Midwest, and South Central US. Volk have also toured across Germany, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Canada. VOLK released their sophomore EP, Average American Band, through Romanus Records (IN) on November, 17th, 2018.
