Cari Burdett Cabaret Chanteuse Biography
British Columbia chanteuse, Cari Burdett, performs a timeless, genre-defying, european fusion of opera, folk, jazz and world music. Burdett cites Edith Piaf, Joni Mitchell, Lhasa De Sela, Nina Simone, Maureen Forrester, Mecedes Sosa and Kathleen Ferrier as influences and holds a vocal music degree from Montreal’s McGill University and a Master’s degree from London’s Royal Academy of Music. Her live show is “a world tour in one night,” musically moving from country to country and from language to language, her repertoire also features Canadian and BC composers.
Her debut CD, Magnolia, released in March 2015 was produced by Juno Award winner, Joby Baker, and boasts an impressive line-up of acclaimed musicians, including Saga Djangofest Award Winner Quinn Bachand, Canada’s beloved Miles Black and Juno Award winners Adrian Dolan and Richard Moody.
