The Functional Idiots Biography
Formed in 1986 in New Paltz, NY by Mike Adair, Mike Gurdin, Doug Beans, Anthony Ferrara and Bruce Gussin. Soon after- Matt Fleming joined, soon after that Bruce left. Stayed like that till around 1992, Doug left to pursue full time gig with Murphy's Law. Tim Shanley joined for about 2 years, and was replaced by a returning Doug. Lineup the same ever since- just somewhat inactive. 1986 we released self produced cassette called - The Functional Idiots. In 1988 we released self produced cassette called In Pursuit of Toast at the Moshmellow Roast. In 1992 we released 2 singles He's Dead Jim with Hurt The Bunny and Toga Party! with Lowdown, In 1993 we contibuted the song- Fagmetal to D.U.M.B. Rock: The Hollywood Tapes, compilation. In 1996 we released self produced cd You Are One. In 2002, our song Worldwide Destruction from "in Pursuit of Toast..." was included in the soundtrack of the independent film "Dog's Life", film Directed by John Knapich, written by Thomas Kelly & John Knapich.- you can get the film at: http://www.eztakes.com/store/movie/Dogs-Life-Movie-Download.jsp or at Amazon- our song is only in it for a few seconds- if you sneeze you will miss it, but the movie is cool and worth seeing.
