I’ve been a fan since age 11 and this was my first concert. My family surprised me with tickets to fly in from FL because she was playing here on my 18th birthday. ‪If you haven’t been to a Brandi Carlile concert (like I hadn’t been, until last tonight), move HELL to go because Brandi Carlile is a religious experience where we sit in the audience and she preaches radical forgiveness, debilitating empathy, understanding, and action. 🌈💖🙏‬ ‪ She cried talking about the “nerdy outcast kids with guitars” in a way that made this nerdy outcast kid with a guitar cry‬. The Highwomen (minus Maren Morris) joined her on stage and I swear every single person in the audience was screaming their songs back at them. And Mavis Staples was just powerful and legendary. This concert turned me into a giant cheese ball, but it’s for good reason (and I was kinda already a giant cheese ball in the first place). 11 year old me thought Brandi Carlile was the coolest person on the planet and she was right. Brandi and the twins killed Madison Square Garden, and I don’t think anyone else will be allowed to play there EVER again. She’s really something special.
