Vic Anselmo Biography
Latvian singer-songwriter Vic Anselmo is the first alternative female artist to ever attain recognition outside of the Baltic States. Hearing her stunning voice and inspired songwriting, it’s not difficult to understand why. She has the ability to draw in the listener, giving them a glimpse of her inner world of sensuality, joie de vivre and melancholy with seemingly effortless ease.
Over the past decade Vic has been working steadily on building a career as a solo artist, resulting in three full-length albums: “Trapped in a Dream” (2008), “In My Fragile” (2011) and “Who Disturbs the Water” (2015). Each showing an impressive musical and emotional growth and receiving unadulterated enthusiastic responses by the critics and music fans alike.
As a singer and keyboardist she has worked and toured with a vast range of bands and artists like Anneke van Giersbergen, Liv Kristine, Rhani Krija (Sting), Antimatter, Kari Rueslatten and many others. It was on one of these tours, with female-fronted metal supergroup, The Sirens in 2015, that she met guitarist and producer Gijs Coolen. Sharing a passion for immersive and emotional music, but also for edgy electronic pop-anthems, the two quickly decided to work together. The first outing of this new collaboration was the EP “Backyard Novelties” (2016).
Currently Vic is the studio recording her new album.
