Fluorescent Hearts Biography

Fluorescent Hearts are a 5 piece, Scottish Pop-Rock band from Cumbernauld. Descending from a childhood love of pop punk and grunge, FH sway towards One Republic’s intricately textured, yet song savvy composition and Savage Garden’s timeless vocal melodies and sugary sweet instrumentation. Writing songs about love and sleeve worn hearts amongst other aspects of human emotion, it's not hard to find yourself fixated in their music. "‘Lead single Tell Her You Love Her, is a big powerful blast of pop rock, up there with anything coming out of the States. It’s a truly global sound they have created & it’s edgy" – Jim Gellatly wrote for the Scottish Sun. "Made up of lead vocalist Chris Ashton, pianist and backing vocalist Stephen Kerr, bassist Andrew Stuart, drummer Gary Gilmour and Guitarist/backing vocalist Damien Hendry, the band demonstrate their well-rehearsed pop-rock chops like pro's - A* students of 'The Script's school of positive chart-topping hits'. Indeed if you are a fan of the Dublin warblers then this'll be right up your street. Their hit single Guide You Home is a well-produced track with an uplifting spirit (a la The Fray) and a huge sing-along chorus that rivals the slew of current pop scenesters on both sides of the Atlantic." - Candi H – Altsounds. "They are emotive without being emo, rather they tread a line somewhere between You Me At Six and The Killers – creating anthems that would be at home in any number of environs, whether on the soundtrack to a glossy US drama, or being played live to a stadium full of fans." - Rob Lavender – Metro Scotland. TOURS/RELEASES Their debut album ‘Anthem’ was recorded with renowned producer Stuart MacLeod (Amy Macdonald, The Dykeenies, John Fratelli) and mastered by Darius Van Helfteren (Michael Jackson, Radiohead, hit TV series ‘Glee’). FH have opened for ‘FINCH’ as part of their UK 10th anniversary tour, alongside Mallory Knox. Performed at Indie Week Ireland with Canadian rockers Dearly Beloved. As well as touring across Asia in Hong Kong, Music Matters/Singapore 2013 and to over 6000 people on the main stage at Midi Festival in Shenzhen, China. During this tour they performed with YouTube stars Boyce Avenue, UK chart topper Little Boots and Singapore's very own 'The Sam Willow's. As well as sharing the stage with the Australian outfit 'Sunset Sons'. After being featured as one of Play Stations' VidZone's 'Must See Video' on 22/01/2015 they went on to receive a feature on the music video app VEVO for their single 'Waterfall' - being placed next to artists like Rhianna, Avril Lavigne, Fallout Boy and The Script. Fluorescent Hearts released their brand new single 'Waterfall' on the 28th of January 2015. The release was suported with a launch night hosted by DF Concerts (T-in the Park) at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow also on the 28th of January. The headline performance has been the band's most curcial performance to date as they performed to a very responsive sold out King Tuts. ADDITIONAL INFO: In the three years since their formation, FH have quickly gained a dedicated following of 'FHans'. They hold a strong relationship with their online community from all over the globe. In 2013, as part of the release for their single 'Guide You Home', they supported a campaign to help raise awareness for mental health charity 'Mind'. With this they hosted an online 'Twitcam' where they spoke with fans, gave advice and discussed their opinions on mental illness. FH still continue to expand on their fan base as the band expands both creatively and musically. Scottish pop/rock band from Cumbernauld.
