Dennis Johnson - Slide Guitarist Biography

Dennis Johnson is one of the world class slide guitar players performing today. Guitar World calls him a “Slide Guitar Master.”

He and his band are a high energy, groove driven, slide guitar tour de force. The band elevates Blues, Roots, and Rock grooves to a stellar level that brings audiences to their feet.

Johnson’s new album Revelation features legendary drummer Anton Fig (Joe Bonamassa, Late Night with David Letterman), phenomenal keyboardist Bob Fridzema (Walter Trout, Joanna Shaw Taylor), and grooving bassist Jonathan Stoyanoff. Chris Bell (Kenny Wayne Shepard, Samantha Fish, and The Eagles) mixed nine songs for the album. Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonnamassa, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin) mixed one of the songs for the album. His new album Revelation hit the #1 BLUES ROCK ALBUM on the Worldwide Roots Music Report Charts, debuted as Crossroads Blues Radio’s album of the week, and has enjoyed critical domestic and global acclaim.

ALL ABOUT JAZZ

"Going Down' is the sizzling slide single from Johnson's upcoming album 'Revelation' …a world-class slide guitar player"
AMERICAN BLUES SCENE

Johnson’s evolution as a slide guitarist comes from years of dedicated work on pushing slide guitar to its limits. “In the past few years, I have really focused on articulations with a slide – types of vibrato, sliding up or down to a note, and moving the slide at various angles like a lap steel player to connect notes – which my made my playing way more expressive.” Johnson explained. “This resulted from years of dedicated practice motivated by passion for slide guitar. I like to work on my weaknesses as a player and turn them into strengths.”
