Grupo Leo Biography

"GRUPO LEO" Before the band started performing with this name, they appeared in shows with another name "Lara and his Latinos". This group of already formed musicians had no where to stay so the head of the house hold, Fernando Sr, gave them this name plus gave them permission to stay in the rehearsal room. This is when Martin, Adam, and Fernando began to participate in rehearsals with their father's group. Later, neighborhood friends participated during the weekends and introduced the sound of the accordion, which changed the name of the group to "The Ranchers of Alvin" which worked out well for a long time.

As kids who played sports with neighborhood friends, Martin, Adam, and Fernando continued to rehearse during the week. They mixed the styles of norteño and tropical together to create a unique style for their original songs and studio recordings. The three brothers, even at a very young age, managed to record their first album with two songs topping the charts in the competing music industry in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. These two musical hits were "El Pupurupo" and "Los Amantes De Medio Tiempo" (Part time lovers). With their first album they began to play in many places where doors opened for them. They were the opening act and/or appeared in the same events with other artists.

Their father again decided to change the name of the group. This occurred in the month of August when he realized August is the horoscope sign "Leo" and decided to keep this name "Leo". Now with more musical knowledge, the group learned their only way to be recognized professionally was to record and release their first album in 1997 as "Grupo Leo". They also started to perform at venues like: George R. Brown Convention Center, Pasadena Convention Center, Carnival International Hall, and State Fairs.

The group recorded their first album as "GRUPO LEO" and released a captivating cumbia with northern overtones and fascinating lyrics. These characteristics of Grupo Leo's new promotional single "Now you want to come back" were included in their new record production. This first album was professionally launched with the support of their former record label Platino Records in Los Angeles and Mexico.

This group consists of five members whose origins date back to 1997. When they were very young they discovered their inclination and passion for music. Throughout their career, Grupo Leo has saved memorable episodes by placing two great hits on the radio. "I remember that two songs were notoriously popular in the city of Monterrey and its quadrant, I am referring to the songs 'Part-Time Lovers' and a cumbia 'The Pupurupo'."

"With emotion and confidence to dominate the popularity lists, now with the promotional song "Now you want to come back", the group invites you to get to know them more closely through their presence on the Internet and at their live shows" .
