Dylan Sneed Biography

In early January 2006, adorned in poor-fitting, borrowed business casual, Dylan Sneed slumped in a cubicle of a cold office building in downtown Dallas, TX. Over his short but painful tenure in the machine of corporate America, he learned many lessons, but one prevailed above the rest: this was not where he was supposed to spend the rest of his life.

Two years and 35,000 miles later, Dylan has become a full-fledged road warrior, and one of Dallas' "A-list area tunesmiths" (Dallas Observer). After escaping his corporate confines he booked three national tours over '06 and '07 the grassroots way, making friends and fans one at a time across the country, with a focus on the South.

After finding his audience on the road, Sneed began to find his voice in the studio. The Dallas Observer praised his 2007 EP No Worse For The Wear as “one of the best local releases of the year.” Produced by Steven Collins of Deadman, the Fort Worth Weekly dubbed Sneed's fourth release "epic." Dylan continues to tour in support of it as he finishes writing material for a follow-up full length.

While not on the road, Sneed is hard at work at home. At his weekly "Alphabet Soup" concert series he performs a different 10-song set every Sunday. The tunes pertain to an audience-suggested word, which begins with a randomly selected letter (e.g., "H" is for "Hasselhoff"). Making it half-way through the alphabet, Sneed singlehandedly learned and performed nearly 130 songs in 6 months, all while continuing to tour Texas.

In early 2008 Sneed set off on his first tour as a sideman, playing electric guitar and banjo for fellow Texan Kristy Kruger, as well as performing his own songs. Along with drummer Richard Hewett, they sailed across the South for two months. The trio continues to collaborate today.

Armed with a stronger network of friends and fans, Dylan will set out on his most difficult and unique tour to date this fall. Dubbed "Texodus," this is one trip that he does not plan to return from. After years of carving out a niche for himself in Dallas, Dylan is ready to try some new climes. He plans to sell all but only his most essential possessions, load up his car, and travel to Hartsville, South Carolina, performing shows along the way. Perhaps his feelings about the move/tour could be best described in a line from his song "No Worse For The Wear:" "I still don't know what I'm after / I just know what I was before."
