MIND Biography

MIND is a UK progressive rock/metal band, formed by the lead guitarist Andreia Gomez. In 2009 she recorded a demo of original compositions and set out to form the band. With influences from 70’s prog, world music, film scores, fusion and metal, the result was an aggressive yet melodic sound. Exploring advanced rhythmic and melodic concepts whilst keeping an element of simplicity, is the essence of MIND’s music. Within a few months they won Total Rock Radio's "Best New and Unsigned Band of 2009" and soon after played the Unsigned stage of Ermal Metal Festival (Sepultura, Blind Guardian, Textures, Obituary) In 2010 they were finalists of the Emergenza contest and headlined the HMV Forum. In 2011 they got signed to Glasstone Records and started recording their debut EP. After line up changes and issues with their producer, the band left the label and took much needed time out, the EP didn’t get released...

MIND regrouped in 2016, with drummer Douglas Hamer (previously with Maschine - Inside Out Music), 6 string fretless bass player Joe Chauncy (previously with Era Untold and Encoded) keyboardist/producer Erim Ahmet (Wake Up Leo, Salvador Darlings, Atlas) and new singer Anthony “Willow” Seanor. Soon the band was playing higher profile gigs such as opening for Angel Nation at Boston Music Rooms and headlining Red Roar Festival 2018. Meanwhile bass player Joe Chauncy had to leave, due to severe long term illness and Kim Rogers (Killerfix) got invited to take his place. Andreia and Erim who's now a professional music producer, revisited the album recordings and decided to self-produce, the result was a much better production than what Glasstone Records producer had done. The EP got released independently on Friday 13.07.2018. It was picked up by several radio stations, one of them being HRH radio who were excited to introduce the band with the 11 minute long track “Soul Rise” and refused the offer of a radio edit/shorter version. This led to an invitation to headline the prestigious HRH Prog Festival 2018 (Pendragon, Hawkwind, Martin Barre Band) on Friday 16th of November 2018 stage 2. The gig was a success despite the singer being arrested on the day and not able to perform (only to be released the following day, because it was an old pending warrant he was unaware of, for “defying authority” while protesting to save trees). The instrumental half improvised set left the crowd ecstatic and the band’s fan base grew exponentially as a result. It was the band’s first taste of fame, giving autographs, being recognized throughout the festival as they joined the crowds to watch other bands, being (happily) harassed for selfies and showered with compliments. Footage of the show is being prepared for release in the new year.

MIND is currently working on new material to be released in 2020. Their latest song “Inner Child” has proven to be a success with the crowds and the band expects the single to do extremely well when released. Andreia is taking charge of and redesigning the band’s artwork and artistic image, vital to the expressing the band’s concept - "the human mind and the nature of conscious awareness". This is expressed not only through the music and lyrics, but themed artwork and video productions, soon to be incorporated in their live shows.
