About this concert
A solo showcase for the London Symphony Orchestra’s brilliant young co-principal trombone Peter Moore – including a new piece written specially for him by Roxanna Panufnik.
When Peter Moore was appointed co-principal trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra in 2014 he made history: at the age of just 18, he was the LSO’s youngest ever member. The Barbican is delighted to have offered him a Europe-wide showcase as part of the ECHO Rising Star series, and to have commissioned a new piece for him from Roxanna Panufnik – a composer with a uniquely original and communicative voice.

Peter Moore Biography
Peter Moore is an Irish blues legend. He has fronted the International Blues Band, The Raindogs and The Wandering Harrys. The International Blues Band played mainly original music, with a Dublin blues twist. The Raindogs, a side project, covered their favourite albums, including Van Morrison's classic Astral Weeks, stretching an eight track album of 35 mins to a two and a half hour show. The Wandering Harrys were an original band from the famous Dublin pub, McDaids of Harry Street, who were dislocated, hence their name. Peter Moore has just released his album, Faoin Spéir, and is also working with Bal Kennedy on an acoustic album. For the last five years he has been working on his Dublin show.
