Ashleigh Grace Biography

Somehow, I always knew singing and songwriting was for me.

I remember as a child watching the sold out Robbie Williams’ ‘Live at Royal Albert Hall’ concert DVD. He was dressed in a tuxedo, had dancers, lights and an orchestra that was tiered on a ginormous staircase that seemed to take up half the hall! He stood there crying as the orchestra played the final bars, and the crowd gave him a standing ovation. It was one of those goose bump moments that I’ll never ever forget. I knew then that I wanted to grow up and be the one who would give goose bumps to that 10 year old kid from Australia.

I was born on June19, 1994 in the Australian city of Newcastle into the coolest family ever. I have 4 younger brothers who will easily bring me back to earth if I think I should have an ego. And I have the greatest parents in the world, who have taught me that anything is possible.

I don’t believe in having a back up plan. There is no safety net. If I fall, there is nothing to catch me. You’re always going to use it, if it’s there.

When I was 15, I left school to chase my dream….Madison Square Garden….sold out….. goosebumps moments.

Since then I have had the opportunity to be the opening act for one of my favourite R&B artists, Macy Gray. I’ve also opened for 3 time Grammy award winner Toni Childs, as well as Australian legends like Wendy Matthews, Glenn Shorrock (the Little River Band), The Black Sorrows, and Australian Idol winner Damien Leith.

I have performed at some of the coolest venues in Australia and overseas. Places that allow an artist to feel special and their music to be appreciated.

For the past 12 months, I’ve spent most of my time songwriting. And I love it! I’ve been a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, composed the musical scores for a number of international television programs, received critical acclaim for my James Bond inspired original song ‘Devil May Care’ from Sebastian Faulks (Author of the novel of the same name) and Universal Music Film & TV Department, SONY Pictures. One of my original songs was featured on the United Nations website, for World Humanitarian Day, and my song ‘RUN’ made it to number 3 on the Grammy Amplifier Charts.

I’m one of those people who love coffee way more than they should. I know every word to any Sandra Bullock movie. I have a box in my bedroom that holds the confetti of every concert I’ve ever been to. I believe that whatever you wish for at 11:11 will come true, and that Maria von Trap has the answer to everything!

I’m a little obsessive compulsive. I have to spray my Beyonce perfume before I go on stage because it will somehow give me Beyonce-like superpowers. One of my biggest fears is not giving 100%. I am a student of the School of Practical Philosophy and I try to live in the now, not the past or the future. I believe in my heart that if it doesn’t work out first time, don’t stress, it’s because there is always something better waiting around the corner.

I believe that the disappointments and the accolades should be treated one and the same, for it is the good and the bad which define who I am and who I will become.........
