About this concert
Be ready to shout, sing, and shed a tear. Jared Deck & his band The Travelers present his new album, "Bully Pulpit," full of gospel shouts, country storytelling, and soulful crooning - along with the best of his previous self titled album. Order your tickets to this event on Friday, February 22, 2019, at The Ark in Ann Arbor.
Deck's eponymous debut album received praise from American Songwriter Magazine and Rolling Stone Country. In 2016, his blue-collar anthem, "The American Dream," was awarded the winner of the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest.
His new album, "Bully Pulpit," offers a dichotic soundtrack to Deck's diverse background, from factory worker to politician, from the pulpit to the honky tonk. Hear the songs and the stories that inspired them at this special concert. Tickets are $15 in advance (general admission), $22 for reserved seating, and free to Ark members.
For a man who’s been on both sides of the pulpit, outsourced by a corporation, defeated in an election, and fired from church, the album title rings true. Bully Pulpit harmonizes Deck’s country storytelling with his gospel upbringing and blue-collar authenticity. “Through every failure, I never stop believing in the truth of my experiences, the man I hope to be, or my ability to reach any goal I choose. I move forward at all costs, tell my story, and hope it resonates.”
