A conglomerate of pop, reggae, groove, dub, ska, upbeat funk, party madness... From the beautiful South Coast of NSW, Chuparosa were a musical force of reggae grooves and funky vibes, splashing the scene with their original roots music. After 5 successful tours spanning 4 States of Australia, Chuparosa lit up venues around the nation with their insanely energetic live shows. Their debut EP "SINKING SUN” dropped in DEC 2013 just 4 months after the bands inception. the track ‘Come Alive’ scored a #1 spot on Triple J's - Unearthed Roots Chart. ‘Sinking Sun’ the title track also scored multiple plays on Roots & All on Monday nights on Triple J National Radio. Tracks from the EP have been downloaded in every state of Australia to radio stations via AMRAP AIRIT. The 2nd EP “THIS IS LIFE” released DEC 20th 2014, showcases the development & songwriting journey of Chuparosa. With a more polished edge to their upbeat & fun sound, this new release reveals a new level of diverse flavours that the members each bring. Recorded @ The Grove studios (Silverchair, Eskimo Joe, INXS), these songs have been tempered wonderfully while touring on the road. This 2nd EP successfully captured the energy & passion of a live Chuparosa show. Following this release Chuparosa embarked on another massive 25 date SUMMER 2014/15 tour that crossed 3 states and territories. Whipping party goers on the East Coast into a funky ska frenzy. As the EP says “This is Life”. Lead vocals is Tay Plain, deriving from a immensely diverse musical background with many successful projects in his history, his vocal range and adaptability make him the perfect front-man. On guitar is Kyle Jacobs, with past works covering from Jazz to Pop-Punk, he is the perfect fit for the driving rhythm and sweet lines you can expect to hear. On bass is the one and only Tim Dennis, it would probably be quicker to list the things this man hasn't done as he knows his way around the music scene. Striking the keys is Mark 'Cuzzy' Meleisea, calling the land of the long white cloud his home, he fills out the sound of Chuparosa leaving you "beached az" and wanting more with his contrasting and delicious vocal work. Jake Parker is the sexy sax man who adds an extra layer of juicy goodness together with talented youngster Jack Purdon on the Trumpet. And keeping it all together is Mikey Beckett on drums, with more cymbals than you can poke a stick at his vast appreciation for all music styles keeps this funky train rolling!
