About this concert
Devizes Ameripolitan Music Club Welcomes The Dusk Brothers. Dusk Brothers are a 'dark swamp blues' two-man-band from Bristol, UK. Since 2015 brothers Graeme and Iain (E) Moncrieff have, in every sense, been building their unusual and distinctively dark, bluesy sound from the ground up. Their unique and visceral live shows have astounded audiences and begun to accrue a dedicated fanbase at gigs and festivals across the UK, including the acclaimed Buckle & Boots Country Festival in 2018 and Boxstock - the UK’s very own cigar box guitar festival in Wolverhampton. Using custom built guitars, percussive stomp-boxes with foot operated cymbals, various percussion instruments made from old oil cans and the likes, and valve guitar amplifiers built from scratch in their own workshop combined with vocal harmonies and blues harp, the brothers are two one-man-bands playing simultaneously to make an incredibly huge sound for only two men. The lyrical inspiration for Dusk Brothers' songs that include themes of betrayal, revenge, and alcohol, often comes either from personal experience or from the darker times in close friends’ lives. The songs are metaphors. Fantastical, but a release for feelings and thoughts otherwise imprisoned inside Graeme's introverted mind. Dusk Brothers’ much anticipated debut EP ’Storms, Rum, Liars and Guns' has now been recorded and will be released imminently. Two tracks from this EP, ‘Hold On, and 'The Damage Done’, are currently available as a free download at their website -www.duskbrothers.com. 2019 will bring many more live shows and the Moncrieff brothers will set aside time to return to the studio and record the debut Dusk Brothers album. Cath York - vocals, violin and viola, flute, ukulele, melodica, and recorders. Sound Affects is a unique, highly experienced, and skilled alternative acoustic duo, which performs original material, arranged in an acoustic format, with echoes of classical and folk music. As well as being classically trained while young, we have played in alternative and indie rock bands for many years; and we think we have brought that “alternative vibe” into our acoustic performances. We have worked with and alongside many notable artists over the years including: Rick Buckler and Bruce Foxton; The Killertones; The English Beat; DreadZone; Kingmaker; King Kurt; Dodgy; Mark Morriss; Pope (featuring Chris Pope, formerly of The Chords); Inspiral Carpets; The Gift; Roddy Radiation and the Skabilly Rebels; B-Side Players; and The Champions Inc. We are regulars on the UK classic scootering and folk festival scene. Sound Affects have two albums of original material already available for purchase (see here - http://www.soundaffects.band/); we are now in the process of recording our third. Dusk Brothers Biography

The gritty dark swamp blues sound of Dusk Brothers (Gray and 'E' Moncrieff) draws heavily on their unconventional arsenal of self-built instruments. Guitars fashioned from old metal boxes, "Frankenstein" foot drums created by ripping down 55 gallon oil drums and bolting them onto sawn-off bass drum shells and custom valve guitar amplifiers built from scratch in their own workshop provide a raw, bluesy backdrop for growling vocal harmonies and blues harp.

These "cowboy-hatted shamans'" visceral live shows continue to astound audiences and accrue a dedicated fanbase at venues and festivals across the UK including the acclaimed Buckle & Boots Country Festival and coveted main stage appearances at Tenby Blues Festival and Carlisle Blues Rock Festival.

Dusk Brothers featured in award winning director Virginia Heath's documentary 'Cigar Box Blues - The Makers Of A Revolution', broadcast on BBC One and BBC Four.

During the 2020 lockdown the brothers transformed the ramshackle garage they use as a rehearsal room into a pallet-wood-clad private rum bar and live-streaming and recording studio. They continue to stream "The Dusk Brothers Show LIVE" on Friday nights on their YouTube channel from their infamous Rum Shack.

The Dusk Brothers debut EP 'Storms, Rum, Liars & Guns' is out now and you can currently download two FREE tracks from it at www.duskbrothers.com
