About this concert
SORNE guides fellow singers through a series of basic vocal exercises with the intention of opening the heart and mind, breaking through inhibitions and mental barriers, allowing for the exploration of the voice. SORNE uses harmonies from his music so that attendees can sing along during his performances if they so choose. "By reclaiming the power of one's voice, I believe that we can become stronger, more confident, fully realized people, and in turn, inspire and empower others." - SORNE :::1st Half::: -Begins with breathing techniques, conditioning body for vocalizing effectively -Warm up exercises to open the vocal cords, extend range and prevent damage to larynx -Melodic scales are used to familiarize vocalists with personal range of voice -Learning of intervals between notes, improving awareness of pitch and melodic relationships :::Break (15 mins)::: :::2nd Half::: -Harmonization between sections of the group where each section is given a part -Cultivation of emotional symbolism, triggers and resources within the emotional landscape to promote authentic singing -Group harmonization with soloist moment where each attendee can sing out what they hear and feel with the vocal support of the group singing a harmonic motif together. *Attendees should bring water bottle, personal journal and pen or pencil. *Attendees are arranged in a circle on floor pillows or chairs around SORNE, seated center. *No supplemental equipment needed. Limited to 30 attendees! tickets: $30 purchase at Sanctum.la -------------------------------------------- PRAISE FOR SORNE "If Tool and Jeff Buckley had an orgy on Peyote in the desert and created a love child, that baby would be Sorne; Rooted in the transfiguration of suffering into something that gives life." - RealitySandwich "SORNE is one of the most exciting voices to emerge lately; incendiary, hallucinatory storytelling” - Newfound Journal “Nonconformist in nature, brilliant in execution. This is absolutely phenomenal in every sense of the word. Music cannot get more unique and authentic as this.” - Sputnik Music "Easily one of the most eccentric and eclectic singers I have ever heard. An extraordinary and unique talent. Kinda ethereal opera electronica meets David Bryne and Kate Bush. Nothing else like it." - Will Henshall -------------------------------------------- ABOUT THE FACILITATOR SORNE is a multi-disciplinary, award-winning vocalist, composer, visual artist, instrumentalist, actor and filmmaker, boasting an unparalleled vocal range with perfect pitch. He brings listeners to tears with his hypnotic angelic falsetto, and has churned crowds into a writhing frenzy with his bone-rattling dynamism and range. SORNE was featured in Rolling Stone’s top 50 finds of SXSW 2015, selected as one of 63 artists to represent contemporary art in Texas by Art in America in 2008 and 2012 and currently working on a graphic novel with poet, actor and musician, Saul Williams due internationally in 2019 through First Second Books.

Morgan Sorne Biography

Morgan Sorne is an award-winning multi-disciplinary artist, composer, and musician with a 5-octave voice as his primary instrument. Beyond his stunning vocal range, Sorne is known for his hypnotic creations, deeply textured vocal collages punctuated with primitive urgency, and an emotional wisdom that seems otherworldly. "Sorne sounds of the future gawking at you with a gaping mouth, fearlessly, and enveloped in mysticism." (Red River Noise)
Hailed by Rolling Stone and NPR as one to watch, Sorne has performed his original work at some of the most prestigious venues and galleries in North America and Europe, including Art Basel, Miami The Walker Center for Performing Arts, the Sundance Film Festival, Irving Plaza in New York, and the legendary Fillmore Theatre in San Francisco.
Fellow artists from across the creative spectrum have also recognized Sorne’s unique talents and collaborated with him including TV on the Radio, CocoRosie, Saul Williams, Robin Finck of Nine Inch Nails, The String Theory, Beats Antique, and composers such as Bear McCreary, Magnus Fiennes and Jason Hill. His original music can be heard in film, TV, games and trailers including Foundation, The Witcher: Blood Origin, American Horror Story (FX), Life After Gravity (3DR), Infinitely Yours (Miwa Matreyek), and more.
Sorne has recently finished illustrating a 340-page graphic novel with musician, poet, and actor, Saul Williams (Slam, Holler if Ya Hear Me) entitled "Martyr Loser King" to be released internationally through First:Second Books (Macmillan).
