TICKETS ➤ https://pf19bne.eventbrite.com.au Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Progfest is the ultimate annual gathering for progressive music fans, and prog as a genre is one of the nation's fastest growing. Featuring progressive bands of all styles and genres, from prog, post, psychedelic, art rock, metal and everything in between, Progfest is about showcasing bands that think for themselves; bands who rather than following the latest trends, have decided to challenge themselves musically and create music with depth and vision. The 2019 line up of Progfest is definitely their biggest yet with three colossal internationals announced. Germany’s legendary post-metal act The Ocean and UK’s djent-groove metal pioneers Monuments will share headlining duties across all 3 Progfest festivals, along with India’s finest progressive rock export Skyharbor, who will be making their first ever appearances on Australian shores. THE OCEAN: Hailing from Berlin, Germany, The Ocean are one of the most accomplished and revered post-rock & post-metal acts on the planet. Having toured with the likes of Opeth, Mastodon, Mono, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Anathema, Devin Townsend, and many more. They are also staples on festival circuits the world over, having spent the past 5 years taking their last conceptual studio release, 2013’s Pelagial, to fans in every corner of the globe. With Volume 1 of their 8th album, Phanerozoic I: Palaezoic coming on November 2, the band will once again show the world why they remain atop of the progressive music scene. Bleak and heavy, angry and dystopian, The Ocean deliver wave after wave of emotion to the listener enveloping you in layers of sound that both suffocate and liberate. MONUMENTS: Monuments are the epitome of modern progressive metal. The London based quintet deliver as many hooks as they do political messages. In an age of mass media and hysteria, Monuments fly the flag high for critical thinking and self-awareness. While lyrically the band are inspired by conspiracy theories and the Zeitgeist films, musically they move between jarring riffage, roaring vocals and towering melodies. Monuments are set to release their latest offering Phronesis on October 5. The title coming from the Greek word for personal wisdom. Wisdom on your actions, judgement and character. You would be wise to witness a band who are on the leading edge of musical virtuosity, vocal superiority and lyrical smarts. SKYHARBOR: Formed in New Dehli, India, Skyharbor bridge the gap between the postmodern prog-metal movement and the rock world. Creativity, dedication to their craft, and composure, but with the ability to shake your foundations! The band's ability to deliver atmospheric and emotional moments via walls of sound, relatively ambient silence and a monstrous groove have given them rise like few other acts. The anthemic soar of Linkin Park, the fury of the Deftones, the uplift of Incubus and the sonic tapestries of Devin Townsend combine to give Skyharbor a dimension all their own. With multiple accolades from the heavy music media around the world and an ever-growing legion of fans, the band (spread between India and the USA) are truly a progressive global powerhouse in every sense. CIRCLES: Melbourne progressive powerhouse combination of mind bending, pounding rhythms and rumbling bass lines set against butter melting vocals and razor edge guitar tones put them at the forefront of the evolution of global heavy music. With the recent release of The Last One and several major international performances, 2018 has been one hell of a ride for the quartet. CHAOS DIVINE: Perth progressive metal lynchpins, Chaos Divine, have a plethora of industry accolades and a touring pedigree a mile long. Leading audiences through a journey of uncompromising arrangements, crushing riffs and soaring melodies, these enigmatic musicians, have created a realm of sound and style matched by few and admired by many. CITY OF SOULS: Hailing from Auckland and armed with lush cinematic soundscapes that are deep on emotion but filled to the brim with hooks, City Of Souls are truly captivating. With supports for Bring Me The Horizon, Stone Sour and Dead Letter Circus under their belts, the time is now for Australian fans to discover this incredible act. TOEHIDER: Melbourne’s world-acclaimed singer/instrumentalist Michael Mills and his band of merry men, aka the prog power trio Toehider, bring their unmissable show to Progfest on the back of their latest release GOOD. Featuring Mills' unmistakable, otherworldly voice and signature bizarre storytelling lyrics, stadium-worthy guitar melodies and driving classic rock rhythms, Toehider is a prog cult classic known the world over, with prominent admirers such as James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Devin Townsend and Aryeon! JAMES NORBERT IVANYI: One of the most original, commanding and versatile young guitarists on the scene today. His unique style of technical modern metal fused with the classic sounds of 1960’s and 1970’s progressive rock music have seen his fan base transcend generations and genres. GLASS OCEAN: Boasting maturity beyond their years, and earning a reputation as a 'must see' live act with their modern take on late 90’s progressive pop laced with sensuality, Sydney’s born and bred Glass Ocean are one of Australia's most prominent up and coming acts. OPUS OF A MACHINE: Features former Caligula’s Horse guitarist, Zac Greensill and they push the creative boundaries of alternative, progressive rock by combining the experimental nature of the genre's foundation with an electro, pop edge. Technical wizardry meets emotional introspection. Pumping synths and skycraping melodies pinned down by a rock solid groove, this band was made to be seen live! Circles Biography

Melbourne prog/alt metal giants Circles announce their momentous return, with the highly anticipated release of new single Sleepwalking, out July 13, 2022 via Wild Thing Records. In the midst of being in the longest locked down city in the world, the group found solace in writing the next chapter of the Circles story, which commences now with the release of Sleepwalking.

Sleepwalking gets straight to the point in showcasing how the band are evolving their sound and songwriting, whilst demonstrating familiar elements that have attracted a loyal fanbase over their extensive career. The new single was produced by Circles’ own Ted Furuhashi, music video directed by the band’s David Hunter, with the track mastered by Luke Cincotta (Karnivool - Asymmetry). Circles’ textured approach to alt/prog/metal soars on Sleepwalking with their artful and sensitive exploration to songwriting. Whether they’re marching through angular heavy riffs, tip-toeing across delicate electronics, or bobbing in subtle clean waves, the band takes you on an unforgettable journey that demands attention.

Circles’ sophomore record The Last One (2018), an album of tremendous power via Wild Thing Records/Season Of Mist, was the group’s debut with front-man Ben Rechter, whose lush dynamic voice became a signature of Circles’ ever expanding sound. With guitarist Rechter assuming the role of lead vocalist and fellow band members Furuhashi (guitar/backing vocals), Hunter (drums), and Drew Patton (bass guitar/screamed vocals) providing a maelstrom of musical brutality, The Last One was incredibly well received worldwide. The release landed the chart positions of #3 AIR Independent Albums and #47 ARIA Digital Albums, while reaching close to 3 million Spotify streams worldwide, and a No.4 spot on the TheMusic’s Album of The Year (2018 Writers Poll).

Circles’ tour-de-force live show has taken them across Australia, Europe, and the UK, complemented by festivals such as Euroblast, Prog Power, and Progfest, and a touring history with some of the who’s who of international progressive/alternative heavy music; The Dillinger Escape Plan, Opeth, Fear Factory, Periphery, TesseracT, and Twelve Foot Ninja, to name a few.

Formed in 2010, Circles have constantly been at the forefront of progressive heavy music, with their musical foundations becoming a strong component of the worldwide djent movement. Earlier releases from UK’s Basick Records, 2011’s EP The Compass and 2013’s Infinitas, garnered unanimously positive reaction from fans and critics across the globe.
