Featured artist at the 2016 Tamworth Country Music Festival and currently playing venues nation wide, Derek F. Smith is one of the hottest solo acts to come out of the Fraser Coast. Winner of the 2015 Spirit of Bundaberg 'Battle of the Bands’ Derek brings a raw energy and emotion to every performance, he leaves it all on the stage!
He’s opened for Toni Childs, Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi), You Am I and shared the stage with artists such as Lee Kernaghan, Stonefield, Jared Porter and James Blundell to name a few.
Voted most popular vocalist in the 2016 Toyota Feeling the Street International Music Competition. Derek performs a strong mix of originals and covers. His music is inspired by artists such as Mumford & Sons, Matchbox 20, Counting Crows, Green Day and many more. His Debut EP 'Enlightened Monkey' featuring 5 original songs and 13 track live album 'Live at the Federal’ have been welcomed with rave reviews by listeners worldwide.
