Frands Biography
FRANDS IS A THEATRICAL-FUNK-PUNK CONSORTIUM
Frands’ substantial cult following and cinematic live performances have earned them a unique niche in the New York City indie scene. Founded by frontman Aaron Waldman and guitarist James Beer in June 2018, the group honed their live show at Knitting Factory, Zone 1, and Alphaville, culminating in a headlining slot at Rough Trade the following Spring. Boasting a sonic palate that draws comparisons ranging from Rage Against The Machine and The Red Hot Chili Peppers to Kurt Vile and Father John Misty, one never knows what to expect from a Frands show (blindfolds and kimonos are generally a safe bet).
Frands’ live line-up features Michael Merida on bass, Eva Gertz on keys, and a rotating line-up of drummers including Johan Salomonsson (Tove Lo) and Jonny Gundersen (Jonny, Noah Gundersen).
