One of the UK’s most exciting saxophonists, vocalists and composers, Kim Cypher returns to Pizza Express Live with her brand new ‘Love Kim x’ album tour. Officially launching her new album, due for release on 3rd May, this is the perfect opportunity to be among the first to preview tracks from the album performed ‘live’. Inspired by the funkier side of jazz and having studied alongside US saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis, Kim’s style of performance is best described as ‘funky saxophonist meets 1940′s jazz singer’. Kim performs an eclectic mix of music spanning many genres with a quirky, jazzy twist together with her own original material, all packaged up in a captivating performance and warm stage presence. “Kim Cypher shows how it’s done at Pizza Express with a killer band. Kim returns to Pizza Express with her killer tour band featuring some of the UK’s finest musicians. With glowing reviews and feedback from her ‘live’ performances and with much praise for her music, this promises to be a fabulous night to be remembered! Kim has performed in the UK and New York alongside some of the finest jazz musicians including David Newton (14 times winner of best pianist in The British Jazz Awards), Pee Wee Ellis, Clive Morton (long time sideman to Frank Sinatra and Jamie Cullum’s ex-tutor), Liane Carroll, Andy Sheppard, New York guitarist B.D. Kim Cypher Biography

Kim Cypher is one of the UK’s most exciting saxophonists, vocalists and composers, having developed her own unique ‘funky’ style of saxophone playing, built upon influences by great players such as Gerald Albright, Maceo Parker, Pee Wee Ellis, Andy Sheppard, Dean Fraser, Courtney Pine and Grover Washington.

Kim trained alongside American saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis (saxophonist with James Brown and Van Morrison) and internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard. Kim’s vocal style has been influenced by the great Billie Holiday together with a wide range of vocalists including Imelda May, Caro Emerald and Liane Carroll.

Inspired by the funkier side of jazz, Kim’s style of performance is best described as ‘funky saxophonist meets 1940′s jazz singer’. Kim performs an eclectic mix of music spanning many genres with a quirky, jazzy twist together with her own original material, all packaged up in a captivating performance and warm stage presence.

Kim’s debut album ‘Make Believe’ was released end of 2016, receiving glowing reviews and being featured on BBC Radio 2 Clare Teal’s show in August 2017. Following an album launch event at The Queen’s Hotel Cheltenham, Kim and her band performed a series of sell-out album tour dates across the UK and overseas which has included many Jazz Clubs and Festivals such as Pizza Express 'live' Soho, The Pheasantry Chelsea, The Stables Milton Keynes, Guiting Music Festival with Liane Carroll, Pershore Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Bristol Jazz & Blues Festival, Nantwich Jazz & Blues Festival, Birmingham, Solihull & Sandwell Jazz Festival, Pershore Jazz Club, Aggborough Music Sessions, featured artist at Stroud Valley Arts Jazz, JB's Jazz Club, Chesterfield Jazz Club plus many more. Kim and her quartet were flown out to New York in 2016 for a private jazz performance at The Glasshouses in Manhattan.

Album number 2 'Love Kim x' released 3rd May 2019 and features some of the best jazz musicinas in the UK and US including Pee Wee Ellis on tenor saxophone (saxophonist and musical director with James Brown and Van Morrison), David Newton (voted best Jazz Pianist in the UK 14 times by the British Jazz Awards), double bass legend Clive Morton (Jamie Cullum's ex-tutor and long-time sideman to Frank Sinatra), phenomenal New York guitarist B.D. Lenz, guitarist Chris Cobbson (guitarist with Courtney Pine), percussionist Karl Vanden Bossche plus John-Paul Gard (organ and piano), Alex Steele (piano), Lee Jones (guitar), Tom Clarke-Hill (bass) and Mike Cypher (drums).

Kim's 'Love Kim x' album tour kicked off on 8th February 2019 with special guest Pee Wee Ellis at Bishops Cleeve Tithe Barn (Cleeve Concerts) to a sell-out audience. The tour has already included some great venues including Toulouse Lautrec in London, Tetbury Goods Shed, Severn Jazz Worcester, Annies Jazz Club in Southend, with many more great performances lined up including an album preview event on Mon 8th April at Pizza Express 'live' Soho and opening Stompin' On The Quomps Festival on Saturday 3rd August.
