ChaCha (RBMA2011) is one of China's brightest underground stars, collaborating with an ever-growing list of local and international producers such as Kode9, Clive Chin, Jahtari, Desto, The Bug, Jimi Tenor, Hamacide and Wordy Soulspeak. ChaCha knows how to reach people right in the heart and effortlessly switches up her vocal stylings to fit the reggae, electronic, hip-hop and leftfield grooves she sings her self-penned lyrics over. Jay.Soul is a versatile music producer and DJ from Amsterdam. Raised on 80s and 90s hip-hop he has always infused his music with large doses of funk, jazz, dub, electronica and of course soul. He has made a wide range of tracks, both solo and for others, incl: Mr.Windmill, Cecilia Stalin, Sole Profit, Corey, NineFifty. He's remixed Giovanca, Nas, Michael Franti & Spearhead, O.Boogie, The Proov, Roots Manuva and also composes music for film, stage plays and your cat's birthday! In 2010 ChaCha teamed up with Dutch producer Jay.Soul and formed AM444, a genre bending group that, although many seem to label it as ‘trip-hop’ or ‘downbeat’, has just as much in common with dub sounds and ‘bass music’ as it does with some of her favorite groups and earliest influences such as Portishead and Massive Attack. The duo released their first EP, Eye Wonder, in 2011, and their first full length album ROOMS in 2012, both on Shanghai’s PAUSE:MUSIC, and have received radio play and support from all over Asia, Europe and beyond. The duo is currently recording a new EP (to be released Fall 2014), touring in China, Russia and France and preparing world domination.
