the Tips Biography

Singer/guitarist, Aljoscha 'Ali' Thaleikis spent some of his formative years in the United States where be was introduced to styles of music that he was previously unfamiliar with. It was during this time that he began to blend his local German punk roots with other styles of protest music including soul, ska, reggae and dub. Ali, however, moved back to Germany and by 2009 had formed the band THE TiPS. 2011 saw the release of their debut album HIGH SOBRIETY on Rotlicht Records. Their sophomore album TRIPPIN' was released two years later. It was produced by Guido Lucas (Harmful, Blackmail, Scumbucket and Donots). TRIPPIN's artwork was designed by artist Opie Ortiz who is know as the front-man of Long Beach Dub Allstars, travels internationally as a renowned tattoo artist, and designed and painted much of the band Sublime's artwork including the iconic sun. Riddim Magazine raved about TRIPPIN "Guys who are into Sublime, LBDAS and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will love this band! Full Score." German Rolling Stone praised the record as "....clearly contoured songs, that are brought to life by this three-piece with enormous energy." German Rolling Stone also premiered the band's video "My Girlfriend's Mother" on its website.

THE TiPS have played over 130 shows in the last two years. Headlining their own tours while also supporting acts such as The Mad Caddies, Die Rakede, Ruts D.C., The Toasters and Jaya the Cat. They have also been included on festivals including Bochum Total, Mighty Sounds, Free & Easy, Jera on Air and Open Flair. Yet during that busy period of time the band has been able to write and record their new album. TWISTS'N'TURNS features 12 original tracks produced by Alexander Beitzke (Jamiroquai, Ed, Sheeran, Florence And The Machine) at the Maarweg Studios in Cologne, and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Linkin Park, Lana Del Ray Nine Inch Nails).
