Tiiidal Biography

It’s funny how time passes, If you’re not careful, years can slip through the cracks while you’re stuck miming the same mundane routines. At the same time a few moments of transcendence while music making can feel like a lifetime. Never ones to sit idly by and watch the seasons change, Tiiidal instead chooses to spend their transcendent moments holed up in the musical nooks and crannies of NYC. In the year since they released “Meridian” to warm reception by the likes of All Things Go and Decompoz, Tiiidal has been wrestling with a new batch of songs which are finally ready to see the light of day.

On their next single, “Apogees”, the band confronts the existential moment where you realize that after all this time, you’re still essentially the same collection of habits and insecurities. The sparse production and hype-present vocals make the song sound like a conversation you’re having with the voice in your head, while the off-kilter clockwork ticks and unpredictable guitar pings make you feel like maybe that voice is telling you that you’re finally losing it until honey bees and space time travel guide you out of your meaningless thinking brain.

Each sound featured on this record was made from scratch in makeshift recording studios long gone to North Brooklyn real-estate ebb and flow, while the band is comprised of two vocalists/songwriters Andrew Smith and Jordan Taylor multi-media artist and former Apophenia guitarist Nadeem Gibran Salaam, plays anything he can get his hands on.
