Spankshaft Biography
Spankshaft started as a punk-ska trio in the early months of '09, based out of Yucca Valley,California. Led by guitarist Brandon Simpson, they voyaged to every venue, dive bar, or backyard show they could afford to travel to. At the same time, they self-recorded their home demo, "Home Demo" and gave it away for free.
The bigger part of a decade later, Spankshaft is known far and wide for their signature 'Dissonant Ska'.They have shared the stage with acts as well known as Reel Big Fish, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Rebelution, Buck-o-nine, Fish Bone, Suburban Legends, Pepper, The Expendables, Andy Frasco, Unwritten Law, Afroman AND Snoop Dogg just to name a few.
Back in 2013, they released 'Great Job', the name being a reference to Tim & Eric that nobody picked up on. It was a 6-song EP, produced by Get Right Studios, which helped put Spankshaft on the map. Only 1,000 copies were ever made but the album is still available on ITunes, Amazon and streaming on Spotify.
The band has now grown to seven members :Antonio Ocegueda/Drums, Joseph Kennedy/Bass, Jason Underwood/Sax, Bill Barret/Trumpet, Joel Daniel/Trombone, Tara-ist/Baritone Sax, Justin Sostre/Trumpet and Brandon Simpson on guitar.
The full-album, 'Beasts & Goddesses', is available on Vinyl and Digital Download through spankshafts facebook page.
