Pavey Ark Biography
“Pavey Ark return on stupendous form” Charlie Ashcroft, Amazing Radio, Aug 2017
Pavey Ark are an alternative-folk band from Hull, the UK city of culture. Fingerpicked guitar, atmospheric vocals and violins glide like migrating birds over melodic bass lines and complex percussion. The result is a beautiful folk inspired sound that makes you wish you were gazing out to sea next to a bonfire of your worldly possessions.
Since playing their first gig in 2016 they have wasted no time in establishing themselves as one of the 'MUST SEE' acts to emerge from the UK City of Culture. Beyond the city, the band have played two stages at Glastonbury, headlined the sublime Festival 8 and supported Badly Drawn Boy, Wild Beasts, Steve Mason and This Is The Kit.
The band's latest single 'Hidden Hills' was shortlisted in Amazing Radio's song of the year 2017 poll. The Unsigned Guide showcased the band in their monthly artist spotlight in September 2017. BBC Radio Scotland also singled-out the band alongside just two other acts from the Hull, The Housemartins and folk legends The Watersons.
Influences such as Nick Drake, Jackson C Frank, Radiohead and Rodriguez inspired their debut EP released in summer 2017. The band are currently recording their debut album due for release in 2018.
