Cristiandelaluna Biography

Cristian de la Luna's pop-Latin-folk music is both contagious and inviting. A versatile and talented artist that combines the simplicity of folk story-telling, Caribbean percussion and the jazzy warmth of brass instruments. Deeply rooted in his Colombian roots, he explores the four corners of his heart through the depth of emotions to the playful naivety of our childhood. Cristian has two albums to his credit, both in Spanish and in French. His performances are endearing and captivating.

« Mi casa es en todas partes » (My home is where we are together): Cristian seeks a communion with his audience. A ray of light, both his music and his lyrics are his invitation to a musical and impactful experience. His universal message calls us to live in the present and never stop dreaming.

His migratory journey from Colombia, through Quebec to finally arrive in Alberta has brought him inspiration in the nostalgia of his harsh exile from Colombia and the excitement of discovering a new land of welcome.

Cristian, former leader of the musical group La Luna de Santiago, is a nomadic and multilingual troubadour, singing in the languages that inhabit him. His music has taken him all over Canada including an Eastern Canada tour winter 2019, Western Canadian Canada tour (March 2020), Saskatchewan Network Tour (March 2022), Ontario Tour (August 2022) and a Manitoba/Saskatchewan tour slated for September 2022. He has also had many showcase opportunities such as FrancoFête en Acadie (2018), Contact Ontarois (2019), Contact Ouest (2022). Deeply nourished by human interaction, he takes away so much from every encounter.

Born in the Colombia of Garcia Marquez. He grew up in the noisy bustle of "Cumbia", "Porro" and "San Juanero". At a very young age, Cristian played the trumpet and percussions in his school marching band. It was here that he found his undying passion for music. Exiled at the age of 17, it was his nostalgia for his homeland that inspired him to compose his first songs and to take the stage. The sad and unjust immigration to Canada and his adaptation process shaped him into the young artist that he is today. This whole story has transformed Cristian into an ambassador for cultural diversity and human rights. His music seeks to promote the unification of races, accents and religions, dismatling divisions and nurturing the capacity to dream.

Recipient of numerous nominations including Western Canadian Music Awards in 2013 with his group La Luna de Santiago, Canadian Folk Music Awards 2020, Emerging Artist, Celebration of the Arts by the Mayor of St-Albert (2018, 2019) and the Latin Recording of the Year award : Edmonton Music Awards 2018, Cristian’s work does not go unnoticed.

With several upcoming tours, he is currently promoting his album ¿Que Pasara? (What will happen?) released in January 2023 he continues his journey looking to connect with audiences everywhere.
