Mimi Music Hawai’i Biography

Eighteen year old, country island girl turned pop/trap princess, Kiani Mieko Saballa, “Mimi”, is
about to make her first big debut as an artist. Born September 1st, 2000, Mimi has grown up
and lived her entire life on the Island of Oahu’s far West Side, in Makaha, Hawaii. Mimi only
began singing about two and a half years ago, at the age of 15. “One day, just after New Years
2015, my uncle asked me if I wanted to sing, and I said okay, sure. So, Drew, Cam, and Big
Seff all flew in from San Jose the next day and we went into the studio that night. That’s how it
all started.”
Over the past two and a half years, well known reggae artist Laga Savea; as well as reggae
music legend, godfather of island music, and otherwise known as “Uncle” to Mimi–George “Fiji”
Veikoso–have both worked with Mimi vocally training and producing her.
Come middle of March this year, 2018, Fiji brought Mimi to the attention of his good friend,
famed/acclaimed music producer Damon Elliott. Elliott has worked with some of the industry’s
biggest names including P!nk, Beyonce, Destiny’s Child, Mya, Britney Spears, Christina
Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Macy Gray, Gwen Stefani, and Keyshia Cole to name a few; and he
decided to take on Mimi as his new artist.
Over the past two months, Mimi has undergone intensive dance training. LA based dancer
Natalie Lyons, who has danced alongside Kristinia Debarge, Willow Smith, Ne-Yo and Pitbull,
Usher, Keyshia Cole, The Wanted, and Beyonce for the 2013 Super Bowl, flew out to Hawaii
and has been working alongside Mimi to help in developing her further as an artist; becoming
her right hand when it comes to anything dance related. Additionally, well known writer,
rapper/singer, and LA based music producer Avyon Ndlovu came out to Hawaii to assist Damon
Elliott in vocally producing Mimi’s first album.
In early April, 2018, Mimi flew to LA to record features for her album and to shoot the music
video for her first single titled, “Miss Me”, both of which will be coming out this summer, 2018.
Mimi grew up listening to Mariah Carey, “when I was young, I remember my mom used to play
all of Mariah’s Carey’s songs”. And since she started singing almost three years ago, Mimi has
found inspiration in artists such as Beyonce, Drake, and Ciara in her early days.
Along with her music, Mimi will also soon be venturing into reality television, on a show titled “
Making Mimi”, giving her fans a closer look into her country island lifestyle, how she became
Mimi, and her day to day life as she continues to grow as an artist.
