About this concert
Rough Trade-signed Parquet Courts' fifth album Wide Awake! - produced by Danger Mouse - is a ground-breaking work, an album about independence and individuality but also about collectivity and communitarianism. The songs, written by Andrew Savage and Austin Brown but elevated to even greater heights by the dynamic rhythmic propulsion of Max Savage (drums) and Sean Yeaton (bass), are filled with their traditional punk rock passion, as well as a lyrical tenderness. The record reflects a burgeoning confidence in the band's exploration of new ideas in a hi-fi context. In celebration of Wide Awake! the band return to the UK in November for their biggest ever headline shows yet.

Big Joanie Biography

Big Joanie are a Black feminist punk band whose passionate live shows and punk rock ethos have led to them becoming one of the most talked about bands on the UK live scene. The band formed in the heart of London’s DIY punk scene in 2013 and acts as a space where its members (singer/guitarist Stephanie Phillips and bassist Estella Adeyeri) can be completely themselves as black women. Big Joanie released their debut album Sistahs in 2018 to wide critical acclaim on Thurston Moore and Eva Prinz’s label Daydream Library. They have since toured with acts like Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, and Gossip, and are currently working on their second album. 2022 saw the release of Back Home on Kill Rock Stars, followed by extensive touring across Europe and the United States.
