About this concert
This October, Tearfund are excited to bring you this brand new collaboration between singer-songwriter Steph Macleod and some of Scotland's most talented folk musicians! After playing at Celtic Connections in front of a sold-out audience in January, they are in demand throughout the country, playing worship music with a Celtic twist. We will be hosting 4 concerts with Celtic Worship in Kirkintilloch, Perth, Edinburgh and Kilmarnock. During the evening you'll get to hear about the inspiring work of Teafund that Steph witnessed first hand during his time in Uganda.

Steph MacLeod Biography

Steph Macleod is a Scottish singer-songwriter, worship leader and mental health awareness advocate from Scotland, UK. His music is rooted in the rough and raw experiences that led him to Christ; from broken family relationships to homelessness and addiction, Steph Macleod embodies the reality of God’s redemptive and boundless love.

From his critically acclaimed debut album “Light In The Darkest Of Nights” (2010) to his latest release, “O Perfect Father” (2021), Steph creates a unique sonic experience by blending underlying folk tones with traditional and contemporary worship infused with Celtic melodies. Alongside dexterous guitar skills and a voice charged with emotion and depth, he pulls his audience into an intimate encounter with God, as the music reveals earthy sounds and heavenly narratives. “I have a passion for God and for people. It’s my hope that the songs I write will bring them closer together,” Steph shares wholeheartedly. With multiples released projects to date as well as extensive touring and collaborative experience with artists such as Mike Farris, Nathan Jess, Chris McClarney (Jesus Culture), Matt Redman, Andrew Peterson, The Humming People, Rend Collective and Martin Smith, Steph has been touching hearts around the world with the reaches of God’s saving grace. But the singer-songwriter also shares the hope of the Gospel beyond music by mentoring the next generation of young Christian musicians and engaging with mental health organisations and prison charities, such as Junction42 who have been actively reaching inmates in partnership with Steph throughout the pandemic. He has also had the great honour of being involved with organisations such as Tearfund, IJM, Origin Scotland, Open Doors and The Bethany Christian Trust, and has regularly featured on BBC Radio 2, BBC Songs of Praise and UCB. Steph is part of the Integrity Music family.

Steph Macleod’s Christian music ministry was born in the ashes of a difficult journey. After a family breakdown leading him to find comfort in drugs, he ended up living rough on the streets of Edinburgh. On February 13th, 2006, he found himself in the Bethany Christian Centre, a hostel for people dealing with his kind of circumstances. It was during his eight-month stay there that Steph found both a living faith in Christ and healing through writing music, two things he’d never experienced before! Walking free from his destructive past, he went on to get married and start a family, a radical life change that added new layers of meaning to his powerful song writing. Since then, Steph has never stopped sharing his passion for people and for God through music and mentoring.

Recently, the artist launched his own podcast “This Is My Story, This Is My Song”, a space dedicated to honest conversations about various life journeys towards faith, the role of creativity in hardships and mental health. As an empathic and inspiring host, Steph has been drawing his audience and developing new listenership as he candidly shares about the freedom he and many others have found in Jesus. Just like his music, rooted in the rough and raw experiences that led him to Christ, Steph’s podcast is a beacon of hope.
